While abbreviated nicknames are often a term of endearment, if you don’t like the shorter version of your child’s name, it can be frustrating when people use it.

In that case, you might want to choose a name that’s hard to shorten. Most names can be condensed down to an initial if someone really can’t face sounding out those extra syllables, but the following names will see them struggle.
